♡Stop Wrapping Worry In A Blanket♡

I would love to be a friend to someone who said to me, “Helen, you are the worst worrier in the world! You are really bad at worrying!” 😉

Daily writing prompt
What quality do you value most in a friend?

I am a Christian poet.

Lately I have been writing poems about worry. I will be posting them soon. They will encourage you.

The poems are a reminder to stop worrying and trust God.

What crossed my mind today after reading my draft poem?

This thought….

We often justify worry and think we must worry!

We treat worry like a friend, we nurture it, feed it and allow it to grow. It is almost like we protect worry in blankets of justification.

We say, “If I don’t worry about this, I am not normal. Any logical thinking being must worry!”

Good news dear believer in Christ!

You are not normal.

You are not logical.

Children of God do not function within the confines of earth. We live on an entirely different planet! So yes, you can face difficulties differently as you learn to unwrap worry real fast!

Meaning….no longer justifying worry’s choice by keeping IT warm and fed. Worry gets bigger when you feed it more. A Christian needs to starve worry to death. We need to unwrap it, expose it to the cold and fling it off into the distance, never to be seen again.

This sort of flinging, is divine. God gives you and I full permission to cast worry away, for good.

Many people treat worry gently, they don’t fight worry and they invite worry in unknowingly.

It’s very interesting that I had three “worry not” poems written in draft format and they were all sitting back stage, waiting to be published. Then my hubby lost his job! Suddenly! No warning. Then I remembered my three poems I had started writing, even before this happened! This topic was exactly what I needed. Thanks to everyone who prayed for us. Great news…My husband did find a new job, praise God!

God’s message to me was very simple – “Worry is forbidden! You are not allowed to worry.”

In this realisation, I was very encouraged. I knew God was teaching me to have zero tolerance to worry and I had to stop worrying for good.

The good news?

As you are reading this now, I see you nodding! You are unwrapping your worry, you are no longer protecting it and you are exposing the real enemy behind this!

Satan!

My new poem is my gift to you. I pray that it will change your life forever!

Please keep an eye out for it! It will be published shortly via this blog.

In the meantime, if you scroll down, the “Godly Indignation” post will come up immediately. This cracking-the-crack concept, will help you to stop being passive-in-battle.

~Worry is never God’s will~

Godly Indignation💔

Daily writing prompt
What’s a job you would like to do for just one day?

I would love to tell Christians about cracking-the-crack!

I made up CTC this week!

My hubby said something to me today that really encouraged me!

He said –

“You thrive in diasters!”

Meaning, by inference, when life gets tougher, your happiness grows!

He likened this to the fungi growing after the Chernobyl disaster! I had no idea about this kind of fungi growing then!

I was thankful my husband told me this because I realised that I too had grown in very difficult circumstances.

It was the realisation that in the awful messiness of life, things can still grow.

I don’t rejoice in hardships, but I learn to rejoice in my God! A lot! So I give God all the glory!

As we go through another crazy season in life, I find myself surviving yet another storm.

Recently I was exhausted! I begged God to bring me rest and peace! Instead the storm kept going! So I had no choice but to continue with the battles of life.

But then a very interesting thing happened.

As I did not get the rest I desired, I faced the storm! Through it, I got sharper, more stimulated and wind blown! Even stronger! Only because I had no choice to stop the gale. So in the gale, I kept going with God’s strength and then I became curious….

This storm was not stopping. I noticed new strength I did not think I had.

It was a new dimension of a Christian storm I had never experienced before.

What was this new dimension?

It was a brand new dimension inside me that I have never had before, until now!

It was called the 53 year old Godly Indignation!

The great G.I.

This AHA! G.I. moment, can be the precursor before the fruit of the spirit called PEACE, truly grows in our lives.

Sometimes we develop greater fruits of the spirit only “after”!

Tribulations often come first!

When we realise that Satan has lied to us for too long, we fiercely protect our future growth in God, even before new growth happens.

We learn to say indignantly, “I already choose the default setting of PEACE in the new storms to come. This peace shows God I am putting my trust in Him. The enemy has no right to steal my peace!”

In my case, I said –

“You are not gonna kill me, storm! I am done with believing 53 year old lies!”

( That’s my age!)

“I believe God! He doesn’t want me to worry in this 53rd gale!”

But bigger than all of this, is the old-peace that God has put in your and my heart! You know that old-peace that passes all understanding? It’s the ☆comfie slippers feeling that everything will turn out OK. It must! Because God is always OK.

Put your soul in God’s slippers and rest! 😉

God is fully in control and taking care of His children.

Yes, that also includes you and your loved ones!

I made up this LOL poem below today and shared it with my husband.

I hope it encourages you too!

It’s funny but true!

My poem

I thrive on opposition!
But so do you!
When your under pressure…
You must not crack too!

Crack the crack!
Don’t let the crack, crack you!
For in fighting the crack,
You build muscle too!

Not visible muscles,
But POWER inside!
These muscles are attached to your soul,
They grow bigger
When tried!

Your soul muscles are pressed now…
Their hurting I know!
But soon your crack will be invisible
Because you
Learnt to say NO!!

NO, I will not crack!
I hear you say to me!
This crack is
My opponent (Satan)
Who will never
Crack me!

Mind Your Mind

Daily writing prompt
Jot down the first thing that comes to your mind.

“If I wrote a blog post today Lord, what is the first thing that needs to come to my mind?”

What comes to my mind now, is the image above.

Jesus has His hand on the girl’s mind.

Why is this important?

It’s important because your mind is always speaking aloud in heaven!

Treat your mind as if it’s on God’s stage all the time. Because it is. God can hear all your thoughts.

If you heard your mind speaking aloud, the way God hears it, would you not mind, if in heaven, the mind conversation was recorded in full?

I can imagine Jesus saying, “My dear child, your mind is not muted, even for a second.”

Because of this fact, your mind is loud.

Really loud!

All the time.

But this is good to know.

Only because your mind is always on God’s stage.

This fact, helps you to think vigilantly.

Your mind is a “thinking” 24/7 performance, all on its own. But it’s not even aware of this!

But your mind of Christ is!

Imagine reading a big book in heaven about all your thoughts in 2025?

When I write these reflections, I am encouraged.

Only because you and I know that God is watching us think & live on a better new page right now!

As we think better thoughts now, (compared to hours ago when we perhaps got off 👣 track😊)we realise that everything will be OK.

My new thought goes like this, “I see my mind in Jesus’s hands. My mind is real to Him and it is also heaven’s place. God helps me think with the mind of Christ as I obey His Word.”

~Think like a child~

Please continue to pray for us.

We are very grateful for our church, their love, support and prayers. I am very grateful for my readers who come here from different parts of the world and also my WordPress subscribers who are writers too!

Our situation…..

My husband needs to find a new job as soon as possible.

His U.S.A. work company went bankrupt just recently. He is a Senior Software Developer.

I know God is watching me “trust Him in my mind” and this is far more significant than my husband finding a job!

Only because a relationship with God is more important than earthly resources.

Christian Counsel Is A Good Thing…

Daily writing prompt
Describe one positive change you have made in your life.

I write poetry!

This positive change helps me on difficult days.

Today I have decided to write a new poem in one hit and publish immediately.

I have never done this before!

I still have three poems in draft format and they are all about defeating worry.

If you are new here, feel free to read all my poems and posts at helenolenjin.life.❤️

I am curious about one thing today….

“What will be the topic of this new poem I am just about to write?”

I have no idea!

But God has written it already….so here goes…

Today I am looking through glass(cafe window)

I see a busy city street

I am sitting in a cafe

Where eternal souls meet!

The cafe is temporal

Their souls are not!

I wonder if they think of God

Or just live in the knots!

The knots are life’s problems

The knots get knottier with self

When they are never shared with an unraveller

Who knows God is our HELP

Humans are unravellers

They are often trained well

To unravel other knotty souls

Who are going through hell!

But just stop and consider…

This one truth I say!

Is another soul unravelling your knots

Who ignores God’s holy ways?

This soul may be smart

And this soul may be paid well

This soul may have studied for years

To help souls become well!

But if this person

Excludes God

Erasing God’s holy Word

If this soul erases Jesus,

This soul is not heard!

This head knowledge may be right

But it doesn’t heal all the dross

The soul remains unredeemed as it

Excludes Jesus’s cross!

Meaning, heaven doesn’t hear earth,

Why help souls without God?

Earth may temporarily help you…

But this unraveller, doesn’t know God!

You need a unraveller, dear friend,

Who is God’s child for real!

They will help unravel your difficult knots

They know the One Who heals!

Our perfect unraveller is Jesus

He knows where to find the end of your knots!

Your big knotty ball of troubles

Is a huge knot that can stop!

How do I unknot the knot? I hear you ask today

My life gets harder and harder

The knots are all tangled, I say!

Shhhh….let’s now listen to what God is telling you and I!

He already has your knot unravelled…

It’s your blessing in disguise

Stop trying to unravel this knot ….

It’s tangled for a season

It will be incrementally unravelled …

It is there for a reason

This knot is your storm,

That heaven has already undone!

It’s like a spiritual maze for your soul

That gets easier with the Son! (Jesus)

So in simple terms 😌 I say,

Your knot is like a voice!

A “nudge” from God right now….

To listen to God’s choice!

Choose Christian friends and counsellors

Instead of the wordly ones

But pray first to God to find them!

He knows who is with the Son!

These Christians are redeemed

They are set apart for God’s work

Their names are written in heaven

They have experienced spiritual rebirth

They know the One Who heals!

These souls are trained well

Not just in universities and schools

But where the Holy Spirit dwells!

~Poem written by Helen Olenjin~

Psalm 1:1: “Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or stand in the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.”

The Strange Woman I Met Today….

Please Be Careful Everywhere You Go🧐
Daily writing prompt
What activities do you lose yourself in?

I lose myself in writing!

Today a really strange “true” thing happened!

I was walking to the train station to catch a train. It was my day off and I was dying to have a break. It had been a very tough week.

Suddenly a car driving by, slowed down.

There was a lady behind the wheel. She looked Asian. She was 100% a stranger. I had never seen her before. There was nothing odd in her appearance or her car.

But her question was extremely odd.

She said, “Do you want a lift to the train station?” (the station was very close by)

I was truly shocked! (not a taxi/uber either)

She was talking to me like I was her daughter!

It wasn’t raining!

I wasn’t limping therefore suggesting I needed help. There wasn’t even any introduction.

Today, no one asks a complete stranger to get into their vehicle to go some place!

I felt really indignant.

“No thank you. I do not need help walking…” ( my own thoughts)

“You don’t even know me. For all you know, I could be a serial killer. And you are asking me to get into your car?” (my thoughts)

But the other thought I am having now, is what if she was a serial killer? How did she even ask the unthinkable question?

Now days, even women cannot trust one another.

I made sure I did not get close to her car door. Just in case she grabbed me and stuffed me in her car.

I stiffly said, “No. I don’t even know you!”

I kept walking, feeling slightly annoyed that this woman did not appear to be living in the real world!

Stop, wait a minute! Maybe she wasn’t even from our world! 😉

The Bible says some have entertained angels unaware!

Or was this a man dressed like a woman?

Or was this woman a real woman but slightly unhinged?

I really would have liked to continue the conversation and find out why this woman acted this way. But it is scary to keep talking.

I would have liked to say, “Who are you? Where do you come from? Don’t you know that your question is not a safe one?”

What is my theory?

I am not sure.

Was she perhaps lost or new to the area and needed help to find the train station herself? Early dementia? Respectfully said.

If so, it was a very weird request because long gone are the days where anyone trusts a complete stranger. In my area, no one would ever say this. No, I don’t live in a small village but near a very big city where by default, people do not converse like that!

I hope this woman will be OK.

I hope she is well.

But I must admit I feel uncomfortable to know the real truth.

I simply cannot trust a weird stranger at all. A bit sad, but that is how it is now.

Btw..please do not trust normal strangers either!

When Jesus spoke to the woman at the well, she appeared indignant too!

“What are you talking to me for?”

I 🥰 know that Jesus is the only 100% safe Person to be around.

You can fully trust Him.

If He asks you a question, don’t be suspicious, He only has your best interests at heart.

When you answer His question, know that He is not out to deceive you, dress like a woman, carry a big knife to kill you or act unhinged.

Jesus is never fake and is not out to scare you!

I like these thoughts He has for us.

Jesus is always genuine.

Jesus is always good.

Maybe this lady was sincere with no ulterior motive. I have no idea.

But I still wonder….

What do you think?

Weigh your soul…

Daily writing prompt
What’s your favorite candy?

Soul candy 🍬 is my favourite!

I call these God’s rewards!

Only because they are the “sweetest” and they have no ill side effects.

“The Lord detests the use of dishonest scales, but He delights in accurate weights.”  (Proverbs 11:1)

Earth is dishonest.

Even the candy is!

The scales we use, (after eating lots of sugar!) weigh the body but not the soul.

Did God set the “healthy weight range” on Google?

No.

Man did.

If we focus on the “ranges” set by earth, we miss God entirely.

We may find we are stressing about a “human measure” on earth, that God Himself, never set for us.

Feel better, after reading this?

Yes! Me too!

How much does your soul weigh?

This is the better question.

Not, how much does my body weigh?

If we focus on “soul-weight” and then get this right, then we have prioritised the most important discipline.

God is our discipline!

Not the discipline itself.

When God is our Program, our Process, our Discipline, our Measure, our Everything, we find that the battles we face, are greatly reduced.

This is because our soul weight, is accurate in God’s eyes! (we struggle less when we obey God the first time)

When we put Him first in everything, our soul feels the perfect weight of heaven!

That’s the kind of weight I want to carry!

This is heaven’s gold!

It’s not the toxic weight of earth!

An accurate weight in your spirit, will lead to the greatest peace and joy!

This IS God’s weight and “this scale”,  leads to the accurate spiritual measure of self.

You may be the fattest person alive, (physically) on planet earth, but have the “perfect soul weight” in God’s eyes.

Only because then and there, you decided the weight of your soul was the most important!

In this AHA moment, God weighed you (the fat man) and saw what earth never did!

He saw 👀 an honest scale and an accurate soul weight!

Only here, can you start achieving physical disciplines too, according to God’s will for you!

But it always starts with weighing your eternal soul 1st!

Be a minimalistic thinker …..

When I think of the word minimalistic, I tend to think of the physical reduction of stuff!

This morning, I am thinking about the benefits of the mental reduction of thought! Permanently!

Minimally thinking!

Only because last night was difficult….

I was trying to send an email response back to someone who asked about my qualifications regarding tutor/mentor work.

(Please 🙏 pray for me to get this job if it’s God’s will. I would really appreciate that.)

Last night, I simply sat for ages, reading my email response draft over and over again. I was trying to send a very simple response back but was really struggling to do so.

My mind felt very slow and foggy and I humbly felt 100% inefficient!

Of course my loud kids did not help!

I thought, “What is the matter with me? I’m trying to do something so simple and I feel so incompetent!”

I eventually sent the email and felt very humbled by my lack of quick!

Does this happen to us women at this age?

I’m sure it does!

This morning, I decided that I want to live as a minimalistic on the inside!

As a 53 year old, I often struggle with feeling exhausted and mentally drained. I think this is especially caused by menopause symptoms.

As a big thinker, I realised this morning, that I have to give my mind a permanent rest from now on.

No longer do I want to be concerned about anything! It’s too difficult to keep this maximised mind going!

Especially at 53!

Last night, reminded me of that!

I think we keep the maximum screen going on in our head because we are fearful, anxious and worried!

I believe God wants us to reduce our thinking every day!

Because He has thought already!

He has everything sorted out! In the quietness of faith, we learn to silently 🤫 trust God.

This is a mind at peace.

God will supply all your needs, remember?

He holds “all thought perfectly” and He is the omnipresent thinker of all.

We need to trust His mind and take the shortcut to Him!

Usually we find we tire ourselves with non-minimalistic thinking.

Remember the minimise button on your computer? We often use it to close a screen to open up another one.

I like to compare my new minimalistic mind, to this minimiser button.

God does the big think.

I do the small think.

When my worried mind starts to open up fully, like that maximised screen, I can simply reduce it, and rest in God’s promises.

God’s peace = the minimiser button.

When we permanently live with muted smaller minds at peace, our faith, love, hope, trust in God grows.

Like a small child, we say, “Dear Father in heaven, your peace will guard my heart and mind as I live in Christ Jesus.”

Using God’s name and never finding God….

Today I had a really interesting conversation at work!

I had no plans to blog today!

I work as a Christian Support Worker.

I work with a gorgeous Christian client who was diagnosed with stage four cancer some time ago. We often pray together and discuss the Bible. I love this pastoral care!

My client and I believe that God wants us to take His commandments seriously.

If we don’t, we can reduce God to fiction and shelf Him away as if He is pointless.

Today my client shared with me this experience that I thought needed to be written down!

How did this Christian she knew, deal with the troubling issue, when Terry (name changed for privacy reasons), continued to say God’s name in vain…. in ordinary conversations?

Meaning, he was not praying to God, but he was simply using God’s name like a constant “fill in common word” during a sentence.

As the Christian observed this, it troubled him.

He knew his co-worker was unaware of his carelessness of speech.

The Christian decided to be silent for awhile.

Eventually Terry spoke.

He questioned why the Christian had been giving him the silent treatment.

These are not the Christian’s exact words as I did not record their conversation, but the message was pretty much the same….

The Christian said, “How do you think God feels when you speak His name, and He answers you? God says..Yes? I’m here.”

“But then you simply ignore Him?”

It was like Terry had constantly been initating conversations with God, the way Christians do, but the difference was it was like He left God hanging and completely ignored Him after that.

What a huge missed opportunity to speak to the real God Himself!

It’s really strange to understand this, but some people are so far from God, that to use His name, simply means nothing to them.

As if God Himself is nothing.

The usage of God’s name like this, produces zero conviction, zero fear, zero desire to pray and zero interest in a real God who truly exists.

Sadly we see this approach in so many movies today!

Even when watching something online, our hearts can become desensitised to hearing God’s name like this! I am guilty of this too.

“Forgive me Lord!”

Some time ago, I watched 👀 a comedy series and it was truly very funny. But later on, I got rid of them.

I thought, “How did I even watch that?”

The actors were saying God’s name carelessly with no respect but as the humour was strong and powerful, it seemed that everyone forgot that great respect for the real God Himself!

I never want to dishonour God’s great name.

I am so glad God is never common and ordinary.

God has a name.

His name is God.

He is our Father in heaven.

He does answer our prayers.

But only when we recognise who He really is.

Christians, only use “the word -God” with great respect and fear.

To speak the word, God, is our most important word in the world!

The word God, is never to be used as a filler word, to fill in boring gaps or to plump up a conversation.

Every time we use God’s name with great reverence and respect, we open a supernatural door that leads to a beautiful ongoing relationship. God lovingly responds to us and we know He is truly real!

God knows when someone is really calling His name or just using His name!

There is a huge difference here.

So huge that a person using God’s name only, will never find Him! Mind blowing really!

God can never be fooled.

He does not answer to a counterfeit voice. ❤️

STOP THE RIP IN YOUR HEART 💔

Recently I had a church meeting with our music director.

I shared this poem below, with her.

It was still in draft format.

It was about life’s scars and using them for God’s glory.

♡♡♡

After I finished reading, she pointed to a long scar on her face. I had never noticed it before.

Only after I read my poem to her, did I see it!

She proceeded to tell me a heart breaking story.

♡♡♡

When she was fifteen she was involved in a terrible car accident.

Three of her childhood friends died.

They were all travelling in the car with her.

♡♡♡

She was very badly injured but God did not take her that day!

She was alive today, retelling me this tragic story in 2024 and I was left with my mouth hanging open.

This poem I will be publishing is even more special to me now.

♡♡♡

I had written about my scars and Jesus’s scars.

Now I had another scar story to add. It was hers.

I loved her even more after hearing her heart breaking story.

♡♡♡

This new poem represents all of us.

We all have scars.

Jesus has scars.

He gets it.

Scars fully surrendered to God, heal perfectly.

Every time I feel that rip inside

Mend it dear God

With a stitch from on high!

Tonight I felt pain

Of an unresolved sort

I felt defeated and lonely

Upset and distraught!

But quickly on time

I stopped the rip in its tracks

I knew I needed to trust God

He always had my back!

Suddenly I realised the

Significance of pain

It can be our friend

Or hurt us again

If we treat our pain

Right, we stop the

Wound from growing

If we hurt our pain more

The bloods keeps on flowing

Is this pain, a friend?

A good messenger

In disguise?

Is this pain planned

To draw me

Closer to Christ?

Is this pain from Satan?

Only a demonic lie?

Does this pain kill

God’s promises?

Does the pain

Push God aside?

If so, then stop!

Shout!

No more pain anymore!

You are a liar and deceiver

I’m not listening anymore!

D stands for

Depression

The D word is real

O stands for

Oppression

Satan’s evil seal

S stands for suppression

The enemy’s mind control

It’s a fiery poke

From Satan

To silence

The wounded soul!

Wow! I hear you say

I’ve never heard of

D.O.S. before!

I answer you back and say

I made him up before! (that’s true!)

I am a poet called Helen

At helenolenjin.life

I write poetry

For Jesus

He is the way

The truth and light!

As a Christian poet

I revealed….

How pain can be a lie!

However there is a

Heavenly pain

That brings healing inside

This pain is good

This pain is right

This pain is like gold

In God’s healing light!

God knows the secret

To get rid of this pain

The answer may be hidden

But God heals you again!

The stitching He does

Is slow and full of care

A scar may remain

That is better there

This scar stays intact

To remind you of your need

This scar doesn’t lie

It is God’s holy seed!

The scar reminds you

To pray

The scar is your

Salt and light

It reminds you

To serve the Lord

And to follow

What is right!

When a scar is brought out

It comes into the light

God does His healing work there

Then your heart is made right!

God’s healing is pure

His defence team is real

The Father, Spirit, Son unite

They come to help you heal

Bad pain is from Satan

His wounds are not God’s will

Bigger scars will develop

When your prayer life is still

Don’t run from past hurts

They tell a good story

Your scars will be used again

To bring God more glory

Jesus has scars

They brought the repentance of man

He wants you to use yours

To tell others you can!

You can heal at the cross

You can start today

You can choose God right now

He is always the best way!

Don’t let your scars, dear friend

Distant you from healing

God’s scars

Are really

Diamonds underneath

They shine the

Best when kneeling

So kneel my friend and pray

These scars have plans for you

Ask God to help you understand

What your scars can do!

When you ask God for help

Your scars start to fade away

But when you forget His Holy Word

The pain comes back today!

This poetry is my diamond

Great scars came before

Now I understand the importance

Of serving God

It couldn’t have happened before

My old scar is now my friend

The diamond sits on top

My scar remains underneath

It is God’s anointed spot!

CAN A CHRISTIAN STARVE TO DEATH? 😔

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
And lean not on your own understanding
In all your ways submit to him
And he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6)

The Bible is the true Word of God.

Writing about life from a hindsight perspective “after the suffering”, is an important topic for the Christian writer.

This is because we are reminded how important hope is.

No matter how difficult the situation may be, when God explains Himself, everything make sense.

Read the New Testament to learn about Jesus.

This question was once asked in my family,

“Why couldn’t God just forgive our sins without Jesus having to die on the cross?”

I like the reply of another family member, “Because there was simply no other way.”

Jesus is the only way!

What if we asked this question today,

“Why can’t we go through life without experiencing suffering?”

What if the answer was, “No, we cannot go through life without experiencing suffering because there is simply no other way.”

I found this above comment on YouTube.

How do we explain then that we have no choice in partaking of this human suffering?

We cannot explain this fully as God doesn’t always provide answers to every question.

I like to think that the answer is found in the space between the words.

I heard this statement recently but I am not sure who said it.

“Sometimes the most profound statements are made in the spaces between words.”

This place is where we run out of words and we allow God to fill it with His statements so profound, that only by biblical faith, do we understand them now.

Earth has never heard these statements before.

This muted heavenly language is only reserved for God Himself.

When any area in life doesn’t make sense to me, I like to nestle all question marks under Deuteronomy 29:29.

“The LORD our God has secrets known to no one. We are not accountable for them, but we and our children are accountable forever for all that He has revealed to us, so that we may obey all the terms of these instructions.”

Recently I saw this question online, “Can a Christian starve to death?”

As a writer at helenolenjin.life, I am answering this question today.

If you followed my short term Uganda project, you will know why I am writing about this.

Spend time praying to God today.

If you asked fifty different Christian writers this question, I am sure they would all answer a bit differently.

My response is certainly not complete and misses so many other vital areas. But for now, I will share a few thoughts on this subject.

God will never deceive you.

Firstly, God’s spiritual food is what truly endures.

When there is no physical food around just yet, there is no famine of God in 2024!

Recently when communicating to a hungry soul who lived in Uganda, I had no choice but to share God’s Word with him.

What other option was left?

Zero.

At least GOD was available 24/7.

These conversations I had with him were awkward.

He may have even asked the unthinkable question, “Is it God’s will that I starve to death?”

There was good news though!

This young man was eating spiritual food!

He was reading the Word of God on his phone.

He had faith.

He was praying.

I was very thankful for that!

“For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17)

“Look what happens to mighty warriors who do not trust in God. They trust their wealth instead and grow more and more bold in their wickedness.” (Psalm 52:7)

A comment I found on YouTube.

Writing this post during famine, brings up the deception of physical food without God.

Physical food is not God.

Physical food can become our idol.

Since when did fruit, vegetables, meat, vitamins and minerals, get you to heaven faster?

A full stomach is not an express ticket to heaven.

A full stomach can be a deceptive stomach.

Remember the rich man in the Bible who ignored the beggar Lazarus?

I am sure he felt very warm and filled but it certainly wasn’t the filling of the Holy Spirit.

It was only a deceptive filling.

Like the Psalm 52:7 mighty warrior!

The Bible states he ended up in hell.

And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; and in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, “Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.” (Luke 16)

Keep a Bible by your bedside.

Physical food is important.

But not the most important in God’s eyes.

Dying of starvation, does not mean God spiritually deprived you of Himself.

You were deprived of physical food.

Not of God Himself.

I like what Tim Challies said,

That destination may be death, or that destination may be greater holiness. But whatever it is, that destination is not nothing, it is not meaningless. What this tells me is that any suffering we experience in this life is in some way under the sovereignty of God, in some way under the banner of “I shall not want.” God gives his people exactly what they need in order to lead them where he has determined they ought to go. Where they ought to go–where they will go–is the place that will bring glory to God.”

God is omnipresent.

God’s earthly food, is not the only resource needed, to help a soul survive and do His spiritual will.

What is needed the most, is God Himself.

Man does not live by bread alone, remember?

But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say, people do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)

God’s authority will never bow to food.

God is Your Supply!

Not the supplies themselves!

We must believe this!

Otherwise earth can become an idol to us.

When God Himself is our food and drink, we can rest assured, that no other earthly resource is better than God Himself.

God is the One Who keeps us going.

His breath of life!

Not the sliced bread in life!

God satisfies you perfectly. Food doesn’t.

Today, food has become an idol to many.

Food has no soul.

Jesus did not die for food.

We hold food in very high esteem.

Food has an unhealthy control over us.

We think, “If I can just get my diet right, then everything will go well.”

We then hang everything from this root.

But from this root, comes dysfunction.

Why?

Only because we are trusting the power of food more than God Himself.

Meaning, “If I eat YOU right, YOU will give me long life, YOU will give me strength, YOU will give me good health and YOU will help me stay in control.”

Replace the “YOU” words with “GOD” and read the above sentence again!

Feel better? Yes! Me too.

The idolatry of food can draw us away from trusting God fully.

No wonder God weaned me off diets and drew me to only Himself!

“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” (1 Corinthians 10)

It was a painful experience for me during my Uganda project.

But I was forced to view it through the lenses of heaven!

This supernatural perspective truly helped me!

When you go through the difficulties in life, it seems as if heaven has been cropped out!

But heaven is still there.

If God opened your spiritual eyes –

I have no doubt that you would see ministering angels, God’s provisions, new resources to come and maybe even the after shots too!

It’s the hardest lesson to learn but it’s a necessary one – trust God Himself.

Never food.

Never a full stomach.

Never money.

Never your job.

Never your looks.

Never your abilities.

Never your spiritual gifts.

Never your thoughts.

Never anything at all.

Never anyone at all.

Except God Himself.

God knows what you need! Show Him you trust Him fully.

Spiritual food and heavenly strength provided by God is what endures long after the physical is gone!

This is the only lasting power that will keep you going as it comes from God Himself.

A soul starving to death is not the worst thing.

A soul eternally separated from God is.

Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it.

From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them.

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life.

And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done.

Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20)

“Dear God. Please help me to feed the hungry and minister to your lost souls.”
