Daily writing prompt
What are your daily habits?

Present good habits, help to stop future bad habits.

These habits have helped me in every day living….

Putting encouraging sayings on my fridge. When I wake up, and feel the worst, my eyes connect with the message while I am getting my coffee ready. This prepared message, is something I have thought of, beforehand, so it really hits the morning spot! It’s the voice for me, when I have no voice yet!

I put daily unique reminders on my phone that others may consider not the usual prompts. But who cares? It’s for me, no one else. For example, I set reminders for – ways to think better, good sayings, reminders to eat fruit and veggies, soul growth reminders and ways to overcome bad habits. The beep comes on at a set time and I often pray when I see the reminder. I ask God to help me in these areas.

I spend time with God in prayer even when I am not in the mood. This invisible relationship is hard, but it’s the most important one of all.

I keep pushing myself to write my poems4Me even when the motivation has left me. I write about topics that are very relevant to me personally. What’s the point of writing for others if it doesn’t help me too?

I pray before getting out of bed and I ask God to give me His strength. Who doesn’t need help getting out of bed every day? If you pray, “after” you step out of bed, it’s too late. Pray before your feet even hits the floor. That way, as you walk to the bathroom and start getting ready, God’s strength is supernaturally activated as you already asked Him for help.

I always make sure I have my Bible on my chest of drawers, near my bed. This serves as a reminder that I need to read it.

I always make sure I have at least one good book to read on any day. This sits by my bed too. Even if I don’t read it daily, it comforts me that I have good reading material close by.

I go for nature walks “in the sun” and also do strength training at the gym.

When I feel stressed, I leave home in the morning and find a nice cafe and order a delicious coffee. It’s cheap compared to buying an expensive breakfast.

The change of environment really helps me. I am cutting down on costly breakfasts, so I pack a protein or breakfast bar in my bag.

I purchase beautiful sounding, gentle piano sheet music 🎼 so when I play, I have a song I love ❤️, that is tailored to my subjective ears, not yours. Feed your ears and your soul will be glad!

I try to learn new things even at a snail’s pace. Origami is something I enjoy!

Even in cold weather, I still try to go for walks. Today it was raining but I desperately wanted to get out. So I did. It was wonderful.

I try to think the best thoughts, when I want to think the worst thoughts! (7am)

I live 5 minutes from the beach and I try to go there as often as possible. Yes, even in winter!

I write at helenolenjin.life, and I edit, proofread my poems and articles plus I create and maintain the site! It’s a calling/ passion, and I pray that my readers are encouraged by my personal ramblings. Habits! Yup. Even here.

I do online work/ learning at the library on my laptop. To stop the learning habit is to die. The library is my home away from home. My family don’t bug me there!

I struggle a lot every day but find these routines are helpful and eventually, I see soul-progress!

I still repeat certain bad habits but some of the routines above, stop me from making more poor choices. So I guess, these habits are worth it.

A new poem is coming soon. About the God that didn’t answer and the God that did!

If you are new, please subscribe today and feel free to read my poems right now.

By the way…stop writing perfectly all you new bloggers! Just be yourself, mistakes and all! If you try to write, edit, proofread, design etc..at WordPress, you will be put off writing, entirely!! I am in bed typing this and I feel tired & 100% organic. That’s how natural writing needs to be. Not perfect at all and in any place!

It’s 10.56pm here in W.A. now.

Goodnight everyone.

I love you all.

Daily writing prompt
Who do you spend the most time with?

Today, I want to answer this writing prompt in my usual, unusual way…by twisting it, to suit my writing needs!

Who do I spend the most time with?

I spend the most time with God.

Even though I may not be aware of His presence all the time, He is always in my mind and never leaves. Now that I have just written this sentence, I have an awareness of how Him and I, are always together 24/7. That’s huge!

Usually when we think of spending time with someone, it is with another human.

Today, I am thinking about the other me, “inside me”.

The one you never see but the one God always sees.

She is the one I spend my whole life with.

Spending time with yourself, is one of the most important inner relationships you will have.

This intrapersonal relationship exists in your mind.

This poem that I am posting today, talks about the significance of that me to me relationship.

We often forget we are there.

This is because we are spending time with other people.

“Self” gets lost in the process.

When we become aware of “a healthy self”, it is easier to build a *m.i.n.d.* relationship with God.

Then instead of saying, “It’s just me to me, we say with full confidence, it’s always, God and me!”

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

(Philippians 4:8)

You are always a we

Never a me

Know that your mind

Is God’s supernatural design.

God is always inside

Your silent inner place

The words you speak here

Aren’t muted or late.

God reads your mind

As if your words are

Spoken aloud

He hears them instantly

Even in a crowd.

This outside noise

Doesn’t make it

Hard for God to hear

He still hears your mind

He is very near.

He made your mind, His

It doesn’t belong to you

He made it to be heard

But with only you.

God and you

Are always a pair

You cannot exclude him

But He is always there.

What are building

Inside this inner space?

Is it a mind of poverty

Or God’s daily grace?

Dear thinking soul,

You are building all the time!

Not with cement and bricks

But with God in your mind.

Your mind is like a world

That you cannot see

You can’t stand in

Front of the mirror

And see it visibly!

Remember your mind is hidden

IT talks to you all day long

IT can’t see outside your head

You must guide IT instead!

Consider that a thought is one brick

You then add more and more

There is no building company

Inside your head,

It’s only you, thinking more.

As you think more

The bricks grow and grow

Until finally one day

A new structure shows.

Not a visible

Building outside your mind

But a dwelling that you imagined

Of a hidden kind.

Stop and visit these buildings today

Open their doors

And listen to what they say.

Are these structures sound

And fortified in heaven?

Were they built

With Jesus

Or God’s truth hidden?

You forgot God, was there

When you built without Him

There was a lie planted there

It grew stronger with sin.

The enemy added “one more”,

It was a deceptive brick of his

He always built his foundation

You didn’t notice, it was his!

Do you see a building that’s huge?

Do you see a building that’s the tallest?

It’s the one that towers over the others

And God’s building is the smallest.

God saw humans build, one brick at a time

He was always watching their thoughts

They ignored His design.

They thought they knew better

So they ignored His bricks

Instead they used Satan’s

And he made their minds sick.

Do you see a building that’s the strongest?

Do you see a building that’s sad?

A building that’s spiritually empty

A building that makes you mad?

Aye yes, I saw mine too

I built it so very high

I took the enemy’s bait

I believed his lies.

Then God healed my mind

He crashed Satan’s design

He uprooted the lies

Of a dysfunctional kind.

With a renewed mind

I see IT today

I see IT in God’s mirror

IT speaks to me today.

Dear child of God

Be careful

Dear child of God

Think right

Your mind is

God’s holy place

It shines with heaven’s light.

Leave God’s light on

Every time you think

Remember to build

With golden bricks

God always

Hears you think!

Psalms 127:1-2, “Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.”

~What God Cannot Say~

Daily writing prompt
What sacrifices have you made in life?

Sometimes I like to sit and do nothing in my free time. But then I remember that I can share an encouraging post with others.

I love what Charles Stanley said, “Refocus on someone to serve, not yourself, and your loneliness will dissipate.”

Then funnily enough, when I give “this free time” to God, I end up in a better place. Only because time spent for Him, never is a waste of time.

I hope you enjoy the poem I wrote below!

If you feel you have nothing left in life, but God, then know that He can never say this to you…..

And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

My treasure house is empty

My vineyards are bare

My mansions will be repossessed

I have nothing to share.

I need to apply for a credit card

I know there is interest involved

My home has dwindling supplies

I have run out of gold!

God cannot say

I am in need of your help

I’ll trust the soul of man

God cannot say

I’m losing my powers

I feel weak, I no longer can!

He doesn’t need you

But you need Him

God doesn’t cease to exist

If you don’t believe in Him.

You cannot undo Him

Or erase His powers

You cannot unsee His eyes

And create nature’s flowers.

You cannot endorse

What He hasn’t planned

You cannot make

Him non-omnipresent

By shrinking Him to a man.

Many try to exclude Him

And leave Him out

They erase His commandments,

They love to pout.

Be gone God, I don’t believe in you!

I’m going my own way!

I don’t need you!

What do you think

God might say?

To the person

Who pushes Him away?

As you forget me

Will I unwrite the Bible?

Will I change my Word

To suit your famous idols?

Will I write revised plans

Then dwell on earth?

Will I buy a home

Then roam on your turf?

As you don’t believe in me,

I will become a son

I’ll undo Christ’s death

I’ll love no one!

I’ll become the dust

On the earth I made

I’ll let the “created”

Have the final say!

What do you think?

Dear person reading this,

Is God truly fake

And simply a myth?

Can you create a living soul

With eyes full of love?

Can you create

A tongue that speaks,

Including taste buds?

Can you design your child’s heart

That beats all day long

Can you create her sweet voice

To sing you love songs?

Can you create

Changing emotions

And tiny unborn feet?

Can you design

Souls in the womb

And a dove so sweet?

If you can’t create anything

Then shout, hurray!

I don’t want God’s job

I am only clay!

The pressure is off you

Stop being the designer

Of a world that didn’t start with us

But with One Who is kinder.

Seeker of God,

Look for Him today

He truly exists

He will show you

The Way.

Odd Behaviours & Refusing God’s Help

Daily writing prompt
What topics do you like to discuss?

I like to discuss topics that “help” to change me, for the better.

My topic today is about the observation of people and why they behave the way they do.

I’m still puzzled about a lady’s behaviour I observed this morning.

I just saw her walk away and I am still wondering why…..

I am sitting in the Coffee Club right now.

When I feel stressed, I like to leave my home and go out and relax. That is precisely what I am doing now.

Next to me on another table, was a lady. She looked like she was waiting for her order to come. Sure enough it did, and as I looked over, I saw the waitress bring over her plate. It looked delicious. I saw toast and scrambled eggs. I imagined how much she would enjoy it. You know that feeling of satisfaction you have for other people, even though you haven’t eaten the eggs yourself?

But then something odd happened.

She stood up and simply walked away.

She left her full plate of food.

Did she eat a little bit?

I’m not sure as I obviously wasn’t staring at her. But when I looked at her table, after she left, the food was still sitting there and it looked untouched.

Why did she order it, pay for it, then simply leave?

Then shortly after, a man came to her table. I thought, “Maybe that is her husband and the eggs are for him.”

But they weren’t.

The man simply removed the plate and proceeded to sit down. He naturally thought the table was vacant. Which it was.

When I observed this refusal of such good food, I thought about how people refuse God’s free gifts.

Every day, He offers us good free food. Not literally like the scrambled eggs, but rather soul-food, that comes from His Word.

Jeremiah 31:3 – “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”

Every day, He sees human souls push away His free love.

Why?

Is it because God’s goodness feels too good to be true?

In this world, nobody believes in freebies!

We think, “If it’s free, it must be poor quality and second hand.”

So instead of accepting God’s free love, kindness and forgiveness, we choose to push Him away, because this sort of goodness, feels impossible and unreal.

Like an unimaginable perfect freebie!

But, what if you simply accepted God’s free gifts today, where you 100% knew it would not come back and bite you later?

These gifts are on the table for you today.

There is no evil catch, in God’s message of love for you.

God’s love is a free gift.

God’s grace is a free gift.

Jesus is a free gift.

I prayed for the lady who left the Coffee Club.

Did she receive some bad news and then had to leave?

Did she feel sick?

Whatever the reason, there was One, she always needed. Eggs or no eggs.

It was God.

Did she recognise she needed Him all the time?

I have no idea.

No matter how good or bad life is, one fact remains.

God’s love is 100% free.

You don’t need to pay Him back for anything.

Even if that lady’s eggs remained untouched on the table, if she walked out knowing God loved her and could help her in everything, this lesson would be the most important, even without the eggs being eaten.

Her story wasn’t about the eggs at all.

It’s the same for you and me.☺️

Can God Be Lost?

Daily writing prompt
How do you use social media?

I like to share my poems and writings on social media. Here is my latest reflection below….

Jeremiah 23:24

“Can anyone hide from me in a secret place? Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?” says the LORD.

A wandering lost soul, searched for the place that God had “made” just for her.

A place where even He, didn’t have the key.

The soul looked for her own tiny piece of sky that only belonged to her.

Was there a place to hide under His sky?

A part of the sky that God never saw?

Was there a door for her, God couldn’t unlock?

Only because He made the door, and then promised not to peak inside?

What there a place to rest her soul, where no one looked for her?

“I am so weary,” she said.

“I don’t want to be found.”

So off she went.

She looked everywhere.

She looked for her place to rest, alone.

She looked for a place where God could not read her thoughts.

She looked high and low.

She looked up.

She looked down.

She looked for no one but herself.

She looked for a place where God wasn’t.

Did she find a place without God?

No.

She only saw more and more of God.

She found God everywhere she went.

God was on every corner.

God’s presence was found in every place on earth.

“Am I a God who is only close at hand?” says the LORD.

“No, I am far away at the same time. Can anyone hide from me in a secret place? Am I not everywhere in all the heavens and earth?” says the LORD. (Jeremiah 23:23-24)

God wasn’t hiding!

God was in full view.

God was reading all her thoughts.

“You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.” (Psalm 139:2)

He was in her mind.

Always.

God was inside every soul.

God was invisible.

But He was still everywhere.

She then stopped.

She thought.

“God is not going anywhere.”

“God is always there.”

“God can never be lost.”

She understood.

She then said, “God, because you are everywhere, I am everywhere too.”

“Only because you carry me inside your heart and your heart is everywhere.”

Then she understood what she never understood before.

God had made her heart.

“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:27)

God had placed His own feelings inside her.

She was created to love Him and others.

“Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is brought to full expression in us.” (1 John 4:11-12)

God was so big that there was plenty of Him to go around.

His heart was so big that it covered the whole world.

She then understood how big God’s love was.

His heart was the biggest heart there was.

His omnipresent heart was big enough to love the whole world.

She knew that God’s Word was true.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

God Is Invisible, You Are Not

Daily writing prompt
Jot down the first thing that comes to your mind.

Last night, I felt really distressed about issues with my teenager, and it felt like God wanted to comfort me. And He truly did comfort me!

What was He trying to teach me?

God is invisible and because we can’t see Him, it can be easy to “forget” His presence because we can’t see Him.

But it felt God was encouraging me so I knew I was never invisible to Him.

HIM seeing “me visibly” really encouraged me.

He always can “see me and you.”

We just can’t “see” Him seeing us 😊.

But He is always looking at us.

He is always looking at you.

Truly, truly.

I love the fact that God is watching me type this message about Him.

All humans are visible to God.

He always “sees us”.

He won’t forget us.

Seeing is POWERFUL.

Faith is HARD.

I CAN’T SEE God, but He sees me right now and always.

This really encourages me as His invisibility doesn’t make Him less powerful, a less of a God, less able to help, less loving and less present.

He IS a spirit.

“For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” ( John 4:24)

He is really really really really with me and knows my struggles with my child and gets it!

God is truly visible.

But we are the ones who cannot see Him. Yet.

Our spiritual eyes are closed. For now.

But, if you think about it, you would surely freak out if you saw Him and you would die.

God doesn’t want you to die just yet!

God said no man can see my face and live!

“But you may not look directly at my face, for no one may see me and live.” (Exodus 33:20)

So, yep, I get it….

But it still does hurt praying to an invisible God.

I really want to see God’s face all the time.

I want to see His changing expressions and the concerned look that says, “Helen, I really hear you and I know raising teenagers is hard but I will help you.”

Jesus said, “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” (Matthew 28:20)

“With you”, means right now!

That’s a good 👍 fact to dwell on.

Funny thing…As I am just typing this, I hear a lady talking about God at the other table in this cafe.

I love ❤️ this because other people out there are thinking of Him too.

Don’t Stop Writing….

Daily writing prompt
How would you improve your community?

Facebook can feel like a community.

I would like to improve the social-media community, by removing the LIKE button. Permanently.

There are brilliant posts that deserve a LIKE.

I love to encourage others with my LIKE.

I love when others encourage me with their LIKE.

But sometimes, the LIKE can become your idol.

Did you know that you can buy LIKES? My kids told me….I had no idea!

As Christian writers, we don’t write to get likes.

We write because it is the right thing to do.

Our post remains as a small gorgeous diamond, hidden in the grass, watching for God to join it to a soul. Not to a LIKE.

And not to the whole world!

A seed (your post)and a soul ✨️ ❤️ will only bear fruit when God plants to begin with.

Jesus must be at that root.

The LIKE itself is not the Jesus root.

It is merely someone liking your post.

It could be a carnal LIKE, a tired LIKE, a jealous LIKE, a grumpy LIKE or the millionth and one LIKE, only because the first million LIKED first and you felt the need to follow the masses.

I think the LIKES that get 5 gold stars, are the LIKES that don’t shine much on earth at all. But will in heaven.

I will make a confession….many posts I liked on FB, I didn’t even want to LIKE. I was merely falling in the trap of social media and joining the crowds so I wouldn’t feel lonely and ignored.

As Christian writers, don’t allow the absence of LIKES, to mess with your head.

I sometimes get them, I sometimes don’t. Big deal! God isn’t fussed, why should I be?

I have had over 8000 visits at helenolenjin.life and on my published writings posts, I don’t have masses of readers visiting every week. However, readers still do come, and these are the ones that count.

Short videos are very popular today but who said writing needs to become extinct?

We keep writing, because we know this is God’s desire for us.

Please do not stop writing your posts for God.

The absence of LIKES or the fact that your post is not in exciting video TikTok format, does not mean you are not doing God’s will.

Think of when LIKES and TikTok never existed.

How freeing!

Write like these never existed!

Then enjoy the freedom of Christ.

This is how God’s work is meant to be.

I like what someone said, “Go cold turkey on the LIKES!”

Aye yes, and TikTok too!

Faith Always Wins

When you meet Doubt

Don’t engage at all

He will speak many words

He will want you to fall.

♡♡♡♡

If you see Doubt

Just go silent

Smile and wave

He wants to talk non stop

He wants the final say!

♡♡♡♡

Keep Doubt silent

Stop the dialogue

Doubt wants to hear

You answer back

And stop

Believing God.

♡♡♡♡

Once you take

His bait

He will reel you in,

You will talk on and on

Not realizing

It is him.

♡♡♡♡

Doubt is subtle

Hidden and smart

He works in

Planned increments

He doesn’t talk

 Fast.

♡♡♡♡

He plants himself

Slowly

Inside your rational mind

The questions he

Asks, seem

Loving and kind.

♡♡♡♡

Did God

Really say that?

Doubt whispers at night

Can God be trusted?

Is He always right?

♡♡♡♡

Then suddenly!

Your week is over,

Doubt is still in your mind

He tried to stop you

Believing God,

He tried to make you blind!

♡♡♡♡

For seven days you

Engaged with Doubt

You had

No idea

He was there!

You were

Busy planning

To quit your dreams

You thought God didn’t care!

♡♡♡♡

As Doubt fed you more

You allowed him

To speak

Your trust

in God

Was wavering

Your future dreams

Looked bleak.

♡♡♡♡

You kept shouting

More!

I need you Doubt today!

I must speak to you!

You have the final say!

♡♡♡♡

But stop

I say,

As a poet

Who cares for you!

What do

You think

Doubt is

Doing to you?

♡♡♡♡

You mildly say

Doubt is safe

Doubt is smart

He is my thought processes

Inside my heart!

♡♡♡♡

I cannot live without him!

Don’t you see?

Doubt helps me grow,

Just let me be!

♡♡♡♡

But this Doubt

Was smart

He made you blind

He was sent to you

By the Dark One

To attack God’s design.

♡♡♡♡

Some doubt is good.

Healthy doubt

Keeps you safe

You need doubt

In life

It cannot be all perfect faith.

♡♡♡♡

Good doubt helps you grow

Good doubt helps you learn

Good doubt can bring up red flags

Good doubt helps you discern.

♡♡♡♡

This good doubt though,

Has a small d

The big Doubt here

In my poem

Has a capital D.

♡♡♡♡

As a Christian poet

I shame Doubt today

You wanted to

Stay hidden,

You led

Many astray!

♡♡♡♡

I will shame

Doubt now

So we know

You are real,

You cripple

Christian lights

But Jesus

Comes to heal.

♡♡♡♡

I am a child

Of God

Who knows

Jesus,

His way

Is always right,

Doubt

Is a demon

Who provokes you,

He is never

In God’s light!

♡♡♡♡

Doubt

Is a presence,

Doubt

Will steal,

Doubt

Is a dark spirit,

He is deceptive and real.

♡♡♡♡

He is a presence

Not sent by God

He fights against the light

He wants

To stop you

Believing the Word,

He tells you he is right!

♡♡♡♡

So as a poet

I change my poem

To faith and trust today

Doubt met Faith,

Faith had the final say!

♡♡♡♡♡

She read God’s Word

She buried Doubt

She believed

God’s promises

Were true,

She picked up

Her dreams again

She also prayed for you.

♡♡♡♡

She spread God’s love

She squeezed your hand

She told you, never never quit!

You both prayed together

You rested just a bit.

♡♡♡♡

Goodbye Doubt

You both cried,

We know you are deceived!

You were fully exposed

In this poem today

But it’s God,

We believed!

Slow Motion…

Daily writing prompt
What’s something most people don’t understand?

Once upon a time, I felt severely stressed about something. At that moment, I really begged God to show me the answer.

His response was so simple it was almost ridiculous!

He simply told me to “slow down.”

I took His advice seriously and it was life changing.

The poem I wrote below is about slowing down. I wrote it for myself firstly so that I would never forget God’s message to me personally. Secondly, I hoped a few others would read this so it would slow them down too.

Many people do not realise that slowing down is the answer to many things.

This poem sounds like a Mrs Doctor Suess!

A song is like a singing story

A poem for God

Is Jesus glory!

The slow tree is God’s

Planted with His seed

The seeds say

Unfollow the Web

Follow God instead!

The fast tree

Is the world’s

Busy and webby

The erratic seed

Is rushed

Withered and sweaty

Slow

Calm and

Wise

Are you?

Or fast

Tumultuous and

Surprised?

Suprise indicates rush

In the slow

You are not crushed

In the fast

You won’t last

In the slow

You will flow

Stop and say no!

No, no, no!

I will not go

My feet are slow

Only here do I know

In the pause

Is wisdom

In the rush is fuss

When I stop

I look

I don’t get hit by a bus

In the stop, I rest

In the pause I nest

The stop here is kind

The stop here is free

The stop makes me pray

Jesus and me

The stop makes me say

I start a new way

How rushed are you today?

Stop and read my poem

It won’t be long

When you’re finished

You will be strong!

First pray now

God help me

Not to rush past

Helenolenjn.life

As I’m going too fast!

Good!

Now as a poet

I have your full attention

Forget the world now

Let me just mention

A minute = sixty seconds

If you only have this

Then make it slow

For then you will grow

And know, know, know!

In the slow, you grow

In an emergency

Speak slowly still Ok?

Drive carefully still

Think slowly still

React slowly still

Going fast?

I warn you

Your pressure will last!

If you are nervous

Talk loooooooong and stretchy!

Let your words last

And don’t become tetchy

Stop talking fast

Don’t fumble and stumble

And mix up your waffle

For then you will crumble

Rush

Equals

Really

Under

Some

Harassment

Since when did you see

Jesus rushing in me?

A cloud rushing by

With a big fat sigh

Is only fiction,

High in the sky

And may I mention

The real cloud is slow,

Fluffy, fat and with no friction

See how it flows?

Oh! You must listen!

When you’re in a cafe

Don’t feel the need to speak

Be like the sheep

Nibbling and meek

In pastures green

Happy and serene

Then listens to others

Who squeeze in more words

Coupled with caffeine

They never observe

To slow down is strength

To listen is joy

To hear a friend’s story

Will give God more glory!

So speak if you must

But slow down with words

Just quietly observe

Don’t follow the herd!

Know this and pray

But let me say

Slow motion

Leads to your promotion today!

Not of your flesh

But rather your dress

Your spiritual dress

Produces less stress

Your soul going slow will help you grow

The fruits of the spirit =

Love, joy, peace and self-control

Since when did these

Put you in a hole?

Since when did you stop the rush?

And unfollow the busy stuff?

Tell me I say

Dear friend, you are going the crazy way!

Your erratic fast seed

Cannot say

Jesus and me

Stop!

Pause

Come with me

To the heavenly slow tree

Uproot your webby one

For the precious holy Son

Here you will meet the Lord

And find

His eternal sword!

A holy place where God observes

Like the verse that says

God is there

The sword of the spirit

Produces light and salt

You finally slow down

Your weakness halts

You build a new tree

For all to see

Not an earthly kind

But one with Jesus in mind

God’s tasks are slow

Then His fruits are birthed

Since when did you produce

Supernatural turf?

Your slow tree produces light and salt

The slow is Christ’s action on a halt

The slow is God’s way of saying

Go from A to B

Not the broad way

Don’t you see?

If you want to go slow

Stop and say

Jesus, you are my brand-new way!

I go from A to B

Now I clearly see

My old tree was built with carnality

This messy tree stops and starts

It’s never birthed with a Jesus heart

The rush with too much fuss

Withers your soul, it’s only stuff!

This haphazard line is way off course

But the straight and narrow, is God endorsed

It’s not messy like the World Wide Web

It’s straight and singular and heaven-led!

So if you want to rest your heart

Build a slow tree, it’s time to start!

Plant the seed from God’s Word

Then you will see

His tree is free!

Your chains are gone

Your leaves are green

Your soul is renewed

Slow and pristine

Stop your rush!

Jesus comes first

He wants your heart

And not your stuff

Don’t waste your energy on the devil’s tree

Save it for God’s

And be set free!

Take The Onus Off Yourself To Succeed

Daily writing prompt
How has a failure, or apparent failure, set you up for later success?

I feel like a dry log without God. (failure)

But a log and God, makes life successful.

Why?

God does the work and I see myself as a log still. (success!)

My poem I wrote below, explains this better!

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

God’s will.

God’s work.

God’s way.

I choose God’s will.

I choose God’s work.

I choose God’s way, I say.

If I choose

My will

My work

My way

Will I be OK?

I most certainly would, argues the clay.

I can see better today.

Hey, hey, I say.

You cannot succeed today.

You are not OK.

You are just a lump of clay.

Let me help you, I say.

I know your not OK! (stop pretending)

I cannot stay! I’m only clay.

I see so well today,

You best be on your way!

Hey, I say,

You cannot be OK!

For Jesus is the way.

Go away busy people say.

I don’t want you today.

But will you have a better day?

When you push God away?

What do you say?

Ok, I’m clay.

It’s odd today.

I see a perfect way.

But still I run away.

I see the dust.

I see God’s help.

I need to choose today.

But be gone! The clay shouts…

I’m fully set, OK!

As jelly gone astray, I trust my own wrong way!

I only bow to clay.

I’m off the track I say.

But this is my way!

But stop I say, Ok?

Your Creator speaks today.

What do I hear Him say?

Why do you run away?

When Jesus is the way?

Choose

My will

My work

My way.

Please do not go astray.

Why not stop and say,

Jesus is the way?

When you want to give up, give up….

Daily writing prompt
What is the last thing you learned?

Recently I have learnt to surrender my weight fear to God.

I pray alot and I find God really helps me.

Here are my Christian ramblings tonight…

I had an irrational fear of getting fatter and fatter. Not that I am really overweight, only 10 kgs! After having four kids, it’s hard to shift! I am 52 years old and at a great stage in life but abit rounder than I would like to be.

I used to obsess a lot with losing weight and after many failed programs, I surrendered the 10kgs to God. I still haven’t lost them but instead, I put the onus on God Himself!

If He wants me to be 10kgs less, I am sure I will be. If not, the 10kgs belongs to Him and if He is not fussed about this, I shouldn’t be either. This is significant. Simply because there is a time to actually quit and give up! In this place, you give the unresolved issue to God permanently!

One day, it felt like God was speaking to me.

His words were very simple.

“I am the Program.” (worthy of a capital)

Wow!

Not Weight Watchers, Noom…but God.

Sometimes programs can be like idols.

We often trust these more than God.

Imagine losing 10kgs in the flesh…and this not registering on heaven’s scales at all.

I can’t imagine God saying, “Wow, your skinner, I love you more now.”

My “fat fear” was nothing about losing weight but rather I was not trusting God to help me not get fat!

So….guess what?

I stopped all programs. I put the scale in the garage. I stopped keeping a food diary. That didn’t work anyway. Years ago it did!

Now, thank God, I am starting to heal.

Without programs.☺️

God is my new program and nothing else.

When God is your only program, everything starts to make sense.

Maybe I will go on an actual weight loss program later down the track but that’s God’s business and His money!

Instead, the program remains Him.

God is an amazing program.

He is real.

He will help you. 🙏

He doesn’t cost a cent and He has no side effects. There is no need to keep a diary because of Him. If you weighed God on our scale, I am sure He would not even register, and my spirit/soul weight wouldn’t register either! Often weight is not important from the perspective of heaven.

As He weans me off earthly programs and plans for now I have felt great joy and freedom and have started to heal from these destructive food patterns.

Sometimes it is OK to give up, when your soul lessons are more important.

I’m sure God never looked down at me and said, “Look at Helen. Still 10kgs overweight!”

Rather maybe He thought, “She still doesn’t trust me. Her trust in me, is what counts.”

One thing I do know, is that heaven’s scale matters more and you can put the human scale away (for good). God knows your weight (without even weighing you)! I would rather Him be “my scale” when I find myself getting overly obsessive.

God doesn’t lead you to obsessions, He leads you away from them.

Trust God-in-the-moment with healthy food.

Take a break from failures. ☺️

If you trust a program, you just get a program only.

If you trust God (zero cost by the way), you get Him (all free) and nothing stands in the way, plus He may also bless you with a free program that actually works. (The 16:8 intermittent fasting works really well for me)

Now I eat-in-the-moment and eat in the present. This feels very freeing. Like a child, sort-of-ish! Remember when we were kids? We ate normally, no F.O.F. (fear of fat)

I think that’s the way God wants us to eat.

If you are struggling to lose weight, maybe this post will help you. Maybe a weight loss program is the worst plan for you. Maybe you need to quit altogether and forget all about diets. Maybe you can’t even afford to pay the fees for a new weight loss program.

God’s help is free but overlooked by so many.

God may not even want you to lose weight right now.

Ask Him to help you identify the root issues.

Sometimes they are not in your body at all, but rather your soul.

(Send me a message at helenolenjin71@gmail.com if you are struggling)

He may tell you to quit everything but Him. For now.

When this happens, you are in the best place for a miracle, way bigger than weight loss.

Enjoy my Christian poems below. They will encourage you. ❤️

They will make you think of God.

They help me forget (about food, etc….).

God takes away our hungry feelings.

Jesus said that man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

Speak soon.
