Stop Worrying

Daily writing prompt
Tell us about your first day at something — school, work, as a parent, etc.

The first day I started writing poetry was an odd day. I had no idea I could even write Christian poetry. As I started with my first poem, a very surprising thing happened. Something big clicked! It was the feeling that I needed to write more poetry even though initially, I had zero interest in it. As I persisted, I wrote more and more poems. Then I understood. God wanted me to “write” to bring others to Himself not to me.

Love and hugs,

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 6-7, NKJV).

Worry feeds on anxious thoughts

It’s a diet that’s mental

And always distraught.

Worry is not gentle

It’s only an IT.

It thinks it’s real

With a genuine itch.

The anxious mind

Is scratchy,

Abrasive

And unkind.

It waffles on

Leaving Jesus

Far behind.

It’s the consumption of

Warped perceptions,

A lie that never dies!

A muted place

Of speechless thoughts,

A cry, that’s deep inside.

Worry excludes grace

It beats the mind up.

Its fists are conjecture

It’s talk, a cruel lecture.

It’s punches are mental

And not even real!

Worry has no soul

It only comes to steal.

The enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy

This is not God’s way.

Worry needs to die,

So come with me today.

Let’s have a good funeral

And shout Hurray!

We will bury RIC

Right now

Without delay!

Hey, who is RIC?

I hear you say.

RIC stands

For

Rumination

Imagination

Conjecture.

I made him up

As a blogger

One fine day.

He just loved to lecture!

He didn’t have a soul

His lying stops today

He niggled your mind

He left Jesus behind!

Goodbye R.I.C.

In the name of

Jesus depart!

Your needlepoint

Lies

Stabbed our weakest parts.

Your delusions were fiction

Your discouragement rough.

You walked with fear

You ran towards stuff.

You kept shouting

Boo hoo!

I am never

Enough!

What does the Bible say?

Is faith even real?

Of course it is,

It’s God’s holy seal.

This assurance

Is for you too,

Your His eternal soul.

And only

The Son

Can make you

Fully whole.

At His cross, your fear dies too

Your shackles disappear.

Your heart is set free

As Jesus Christ

Is near.

The Word of God

Is your answer

And He speaks

To you today.

Come to Jesus

Please do not delay!

I’m praying now

As a Christian poet

Who cares for you

God set my reader free

From worry

That’s what You do!

Come now

And bend your knee

Read God’s Word

And you will see

All your heavyweights

Will disappear.

Hear Jesus say

“I am all you

Will ever need!

Now, see Jesus come

And read these words

“Be anxious for nothing

But run to the Son.”
