What motivates you?

Education motivates me!

Focus on fun education not just entertainment

I am not a uni student but I see the tremendous value in educating myself all the time, on my own initiation.

As a 53 year old mother to four children, I am a Christian but God still expects me to help myself….being my own coach, my own encourager, my own motivator and my own boot camp person, is all necessary under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

I am an independent Support Worker and as a sole trader without a boss over me, whatever I do, I have to constantly push myself as an individual.

This works very well for me as I have the freedom of great flexibility and can also choose my own clients.

But I still struggle with food. It is my unhealthy crutch in so many situations.

This morning, was a big AHA moment for me!

I thank God for this wisdom because it helped me a great deal.

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” ( James 1:5)

Last night I wanted to eat again even though I had eaten enough!

It was the usual cycle of over-eating when bored, happy, sad and mad!

So I prayed, “Please God help me not to eat.”

I knew I needed to break these toxic habits around food and stop over-eating.

Today, in answer to that prayer, this marvellous line flashed through my mind!

“Educate yourself, don’t Entertain yourself, then you won’t Eat!”

Educate!

Yes!

Entertain?

Not so much!

God’s wisdom to me personally, made perfect sense.

When we focus on entertainment, we can mindlessly eat.

When we focus on educating ourselves during our leisure time, we feel good about “learning even in rest” and this natural sin-free high, sustains us and we forget about food!

I am not against a bit of fun and entertainment but I realised how empty I felt when mindlessly scrolling on my phone making no progress at all!

A hole-in-my-soul kind of feeling!

Once again, I am reminded that God is always better than Netflix! ( I was tempted to start watching the Lost series again!)

I am very thankful God helped me see that the temptation to over-eat was usually linked to entertainment, not education.

This revelation to me personally is astounding!

Even in our leisure time, we can be well rested but stimulated still!

Creating Godly spiritual universities inside self where God Himself is the “Only Teacher” but the best One, really helps to improve our quality of leisure when we have nothing left to do.

In this place, God has our full attention and our soul can learn the most, when many people learn the least.

Education during leisure! 😊

I think many people over-eat during entertainment because they are trying to fill a hole that only God can fill.

How perfectly God fills us even in rest,❤️ when we put His truths first!
